Our Mission
The SJVRC Organization 501(c)(3) Non-profit was formed in 2016 to motivate and foster its members a way to develop healthy lifestyles while creating an opportunity to give back to the community through volunteering and fundraising to support the less fortunate children of Vietnam – One mile 4 One Child.
Our Vision
To raise funds to support our One mile 4 One child Mission – To create a real and lasting changes in the lives of the children of Vietnam and our communities in need – For Charity, For fun, We Run!
• CHARITY – Provide financial support to various orphanages in Vietnam with fundraising efforts, and encourage our members to serve and market different communities.
• FUN – Have fun running, participating in fundraising, networking and socializing in the Vietnamese community.
• RUN – Provide a supportive environment in which our members can achieve personal health goals through running.
Introduction of Our Team
Within a short period, we are excited with the fact that we have grown over 500 members globally. As we continue to grow, commitment to our mission remains at the core of our identity. It is woven into the decisions we make to create a profound and resilient impact by promoting and inspiring healthier lives for our members through running; and create a better world for unprivileged children in Vietnam.
SJVRC is a team consisting of devoted and caring volunteers. We are a growing family full with big hearts, ambitious, humble, and have a collective believe in enhancing lives, offering hope, and unconditionally reaching out to as many children as we can in need of help. We know that it is not going to be an easy endeavor, it comes with a long list of obstacles to overcome…but it will be worth it! What we have done – are doing – and will continue to do, we know children lives are being changed for the better and inspiring stories to share and rewritten. We are excited to be part of this ride.
From a fitness perspective, we have learned through experience that when we run together we stay more motivated, train harder, and run longer and faster than we have ever thought possible or accomplish our running goal that was, at one time, seemed impossible. Accordingly, whether your goal is to get in better shape, qualify for Boston, beat your personal record, or stay healthy for the rest of your life, we welcome you! We encourage runners of all ages because we are a family.
Our Milestones
Through the ongoing commitment, kindness, and successful collaborations of our members, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters, we have successfully:
- Grown over 500 members globally;
- Grained global and domestic visibility, support and recognition;
- Acquired over 40 committed sponsored companies – Sport Basement, Symantec, Intel, Costco, Farmer Insurance, Kohl, Western Digital, Mint & Basil, etc.
- Raised over $50,000 from private individual donations and companies sponsorship through various fundraising events;
- Raised funds and supported other miscellaneous fundraising projects beyond of our core Mission due to the natural disasters happened globally.

- Mexico Earthquake
- Partner with local businesses to raise awareness and help increase their customer base and profit; and
- Most importantly, donated over $10,000 to different orphanages throughout Da Nang, Vietnam.

New Project for 2018
We are excited to announce our most recent 2018 project of selecting Lop Hoc Tinh Thuong as the first recipient of assistance from our charity OneMile4OneChild. Lop Hoc Tinh Thuong means “Charity/love class” which was opened in 1994 and is currently located in Dong Nai Province in Vietnam. The school provides basic reading and writing for more than 60 underprivileged children for grades 1-5. The children in this area have been marginalized by the society and the local government. With our help, the school plans to make some much needed infrastructure improvements, add a running coach to the staff roster, buy school supplies, and create an emergency fund to buy food and medicine when it is necessary.
Team Charity Journey 2018
In August of 2018, over 20 of our team members and families are offering their time, effort, and let not forget a sense of humor to plan and prepare for our Vietnam charity trip. The core objective of this trip is to visit 3-4 orphanages in the selected remote regions of Vietnam where there are concrete evidence for immediate need of help. These orphanages will be carefully evaluated and pre-screened by our Board and Core members to ensure that we make lasting positive impact where it matters most for the children. It is going to be a journey with our primary focus of supporting our mission and vision; it is a journey to teach some of our children hands on experience and exposure to the meaning of giving back and help other children. It will be a successful and rewarding journey for all of us at SJVRC, we do it with great pride and from the heart.
Evaluation of Potential Qualified Orphanages
Our club has expanded globally which dramatically increased our network and connections that us with a streamline of orphanages in pipeline as potential choices for charity. Our team is implementing proper filtering processes to identify and qualify which orphanages make sense for us to support. Currently, we have several potential orphanages ready for us to conduct our dual diligent process and we are looking forward in supporting and working with the selected orphanages this year.
